Evolution
"All evolution in thought and conduct must at first appear as heresy and misconduct." --George Bernard Shaw
Aroha, a member of the Waitaha people of the South Island of New Zealand, is the subject of the six paintings and five photographs pictured here. Aroha is a weaver, master gardener, Maori storyteller, waka (canoe) paddler, and mother of four children. When you click to see the paintings enlarged, you can read Aroha's own beautiful and visionary narratives about our process in art together. I took the five photographs at the setting of the Sun, the night before Aroha left our bay.
